About this artwork
After many evolutions and adjustments, my art finally found its way into abstraction, but it was calligraphy that truly defined my essence as an artist. Based on communication, my works present themselves first as coded manifestos, where forms are generated by the juxtaposition of words or sentences which create a real syntax. What predominates is an alternation of order and chaos, and I almost become a Demiurge, legislator of my own artistic poetry.…
I create, I mix, I disrupt, I lose myself in my own chaos, then I find myself and put an end to this dynamism to find calm, perfect order. All this is only possible through the comparison between the different syntaxes created, between the connections generated by each letter, which partly represent my experience. But what I aspire to goes beyond personal experience, because these letters are truth-revealers, ancestral symbols that guide

Farid Izemmour is a Swiss painter of Algerian origin whose work explores the relationship between painting, language, and memory. For over forty years, he has been building a body of work in which the letter ceases to be a mere sign and becomes an autonomous form of thought. Nourished by calligraphy, geometry, philosophy, and a reflection on the mechanisms of perception, his painting offers an interpretation of the invisible, where each composition becomes a territory for exploration rather than an image to be contemplated.
