About this artwork
The tempera fully recalls medieval atmospheres. The references to this era are: the wooden support, the bottom cleared and absorbed in the green that is so close to that used in the bottoms of thirteenth-century tables and the hatching technique that looks at the works of Cimabue. This work is a tribute to the pagan idol Tom York, a musician to whom the artist feels deeply grateful because he has accompanied all his work as well as his life.

« Art is a means that can soothe the hardness of human existence; it allows us to see and touch the sacred. »
Federica Frati is an emerging Italian painter and printmaker who has enjoyed extensive national exposure. Constant in her work are references to the sacred, expressed alongside ideas such as modern identity and the human soul. Frati uses tempera paint to follow in the footsteps of the medieval masters she admires, and switches from engraving to painting with expertise and flexibility.
