About this artwork
In Paul's own words, the song was born as a challenge when one of his aunts asked him:
Why are all the songs about love? Can't you write about a horse, a lecture, or something interesting?
The lyrics talk about a writer of a genre called “Paperback” (cheap, soft-cover and generally small books that could be carried in a trouser pocket), who, desperate for work, writes to an editor and tells him that he has written a "Paperback Book"
based on… a novel by a man named Lear I love this song: because of the story of how it was born, because it is the perfect conceptual and musical bridge between the Rubber Soul and Revolver albums, because it is the first track where Paul uses a Rickenbacker bass ( completely changing the capacity and the musical dynamics in the band), but I like it above all because it is a story within another story, of someone who wanted to live
of telling stories.
Felix Zilinskas is an artist based in Spain whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. A large part of his work is inspired by music, as he is also a musician. Zilinskas enjoys unraveling the messages in song lyrics to "squeeze them to the fullest" by investigating and developing their strangest parts. For example, one of his series was inspired by the characters in Beatles songs. His vibrant pieces are created with acrylics.
