About this artwork
“The tranquil night
At the approaches of the dawn,
The silent music,
The murmuring solitude…” - John of the Cross
This painting marks the beginning of the series. It introduces the inner garden as a place where the soul appears not active, but resting, almost asleep within itself. Around it, the landscape feels still and winter-like: the trees are present but subdued, and the atmosphere is hushed, as if waiting.
The garden is enclosed, yet not… entirely closed. At the lower edge, a small doorway stands open. Its meaning remains uncertain but it introduces the possibility of passage, of something arriving or something yet to unfold.
From this opening, a deer enters the scene. The deer carries with it the suggestion of change, of spring, of awakening, of life returning.
The work will be shipped only after June 11th, then the exhibition ends.
« I like to think about my artwork as visual poems that talk about what does it mean to be human. »
