About this artwork
In Tango, the action of smoking has a poetic connection with time, space and “being”. The cigarette replaces the affections. He is a companion, an irreplaceable friend in moments of abandonment, loneliness and long waits. Smoke is the poetic link of the image that connects the present with the fantasy of thought. In my creation, textures help me tell the story. The mouth, which appears very subtly (and is also smoking) does not incorporate the textures…
of the rest of the image. It is on another conceptual plane. She also smokes. Maybe due to absence, or because of the difficult decision not to go to the meeting, or because she is also waiting for another... The true richness of the story lies in the observer's imagination.
