About this artwork
In this unique work I seek to capture the intense and enigmatic essence of German Expressionism, using digital collage of algorithmic creations made with digital woodcut and Indian ink techniques, in a re-reading of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's "Grosse Liegende Kuh" (1929) on "Museum" quality paper with special mineral pigments. Inspired by "degenerate art" I seek to convey deep and contrasting emotions, playing with grays, black and white, and subtle…
tones that transition between tobacco and a faint magenta. The textures and effects of the digital collage add to the work, creating depth, life and apparent movement to the static portrait. This piece not only reflects the surprising complexity of a being that is often perceived as simple, but also invokes a reflection on perception and identity.
