It is a tribute to the brilliant Brazilian musician João Donato. The deep black that dominates the frame is not merely an absence of light, but a dramatic presence that transforms the piano and the score into a luminous protagonist. The texture of the score intensifies this duality: the rich, velvety blacks contrast with the pure whites of each line of the instrument, but in this composition, the grays appear supreme. That majestic scale that emits… visual poetry and fills mystical spaces. The composition obeys an emotional geometry. The piano, positioned in the lower third, creates visual stability, while the vastness of the upper black generates psychological tension. This calculated asymmetry reflects the imbalance of the moment: the wait before the music, the calm before the performance. The subtle sheen of the keys, the barely hinted wood of the piano, the folds of the score: each material element becomes a metaphor in a compelling monochrome.
Fernando Grilli, son of photographers and raised in the nuances of light, fuses photography, collage and algorithmic art. His works, imbued with techniques such as retouching and monotype, dialogue with the aesthetics of Art Deco, PopArt and the mystery of film noir. They transmit the weight of the social, the poetry of light and shadow, and a conceptual vision that sparks reflection.
