This work depicts the Helfenberg near Velburg as a powerful entity within the landscape. The mountain dissolves into broad, rhythmic areas of color and appears less as a precise representation of the location than as a structure of mass, movement, and inner tension.
Cool blue and turquoise tones meet warm earth tones in the foreground. The light does not depict the mountain naturalistically, but rather divides it into vibrant layers, giving it… a unique presence.
The history of the place remains perceptible as a quiet resonance chamber, without becoming a narrative motif.

Florian Weiß is a contemporary German landscape painter. He works with oil on canvas and develops his paintings from the direct observation of real places, especially the Upper Palatinate Jura region in Bavaria. For him, landscape is not merely a motif, but a process of perception and painterly transformation. In his studio, what he sees is transformed through color, space, and composition into an independent pictorial reality that exists between figuration and abstraction.
Form emerges from superimposed layers of color, impulsive brushstrokes, and a constructive pictorial order. In this way, the atmosphere, movement, and energy of a place become visible.
