Florian Weiß is a contemporary German landscape painter. He works with oil on canvas and develops his paintings from the direct observation of real places, especially the Upper Palatinate Jura region in Bavaria. For him, landscape is not merely a motif, but a process of perception and painterly transformation. In his studio, what he sees is transformed through color, space, and composition into an independent pictorial reality that exists between figuration and abstraction.

Form emerges from superimposed layers of color, impulsive brushstrokes, and a constructive pictorial order. In this way, the atmosphere, movement, and energy of a place become visible.

"I am overwhelmed by the technique, which, solely through layered colors and impulsive brushstrokes, entirely without contours, creates an immense sense of vastness and dynamism. [...] How form emerges from color itself is, for me, the central theme of this work."
