About this artwork
Automa-CV19 is a small androgynous bronze bust, with a displaced face.
The concept repeats a mask, but this time the mask does not hide a house, it IS the face. It is confused what it is and what it hides.
The face appears to be ripped and removed from its place, but it is still anchored to the head. It is more of a forward projection, and this is indicated by the serene expression of this little character.
It could be a robot from an Asimov… tale
Francesca Play with the skates: the head has an industrial and old look, while the face is smooth and shiny, of an antique gold polish.
The sculpture dimensions include the pedestal size.

« The stories of each character, isolated in an intimate and personal dimension, are reflections on human values, perceptions and emotions. »
Francesca Dalla Benetta is an Italian sculptor based in Mexico. After 10 years working as a makeup artist in the film industry, Dalla Benetta is now a dedicated full-time artist. Her work is characterized by anatomies and mixed forms. Faces and human bodies are combined with different textures, skins and elements, giving rise to hybrid and fantastic beings. Through unusual, strange and surreal bodies, her pieces focus on the problems of transformation, identity, the sense of belonging, self-perception and dreams.
