This abstract landscape represents a corner of the Swan River after the sun has just set, just before it gets dark. At this time of the evening I’m always fascinated by the mirrored images of lights and the games of soft colours reflected on the water.

Francesca Gnagnarella is an Australian contemporary artist who was born in Italy and has lived in Australia since 2007. She studied at the Sorbonne in Paris where she began exhibiting her work, and has been painting ever since. She creates abstract landscapes using gold leaf, which gives her work a vibrant and luminous quality.
