About this artwork
still lifes were the subjects that greatly stimulated the Flemish painters who painted with pictorial mastery and a pictorially impeccable rendering of "reality", almost to be considered the predecessors of our hyperrealism in nature. In Italy it was Caravaggio who "revolutionized" painting, transforming the then mannerist and classicist trend into a modern naturalistic vision, proof of this is the famous painting "The basket".
I began to paint… this theme at the beginning of the 1980s, choosing flowers and common fruit as subjects, represented with radical realism in an effective chromatic range and obtaining very satisfying feedback and appreciation.
Francesco Capello is an established, internationally-recognized artist from Italy. A hyper-realist painter, Capello's long career has spanned multiple solo and group exhibitions, prizes, public commissions, and most recently, an installation of one of his artworks in the permanent collection of the Museu Europeu d'art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain. His classic paintings range from portraits to still lifes and always endeavor to represent people, places, and things, in a natural and stunning light.
