About this artwork

This extraordinary work plays with the boundary between reality and illusion. Created using AI-generated imaging and processed on wood, this is a shaped canvas, where the shape has been carefully cut out to create a trompe-l'œil effect.

This work fits within my ongoing research into vulnerability, transience and the role of the body in time, but here themes of confinement, nature and psychological tension also emerge. The insects, often associated… with decay but also with survival, form an intriguing contrast with the serene appearance of the woman.
