In this abandoned concrete vortex, the sun cuts a perfect circle on the azure, like a divine eye scrutinizing the remains of our industrial ambitions. The concentric rings, bare skeleton, rise in a dizzying spiral, like the circles of Dante's Inferno. The metal crosspieces, rusty sentinels, scratch the space with their stubborn diagonals. The light, an accomplice to this fallen geometry, draws shadows that dance on the gray skin of the sleeping monster,… the last waltz of an era when man believed he could touch the sky.
Author photographer, passionate about heritage, architecture and urban landscape, he travels the world in his spare time, in search of abandoned places, sanctuaries on which time has stood still. He brings back striking images, time capsules testifying to a parallel universe conducive to the escape of the mind and to questioning... Exhibited and awarded internationally, he is the author of 4 art books on the theme of the poetics of ruins.
A major in Design and Communication from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Nancy in 1986, Francis Meslet has been a Creative Director in communications for 38 years.
As an extension of this approach, he also experiments with generative art to evoke imaginary worlds, in a near future hit hard by the advent of everything digital and by climatic and geopolitical upheavals.
