About this artwork
A sunflower with a bee, emphasizing the importance of pollination and natural collaboration.
This series of five artworks transforms a second-hand side table into an interactive tribute to nature. In its lowest position, the table serves as a functional piece of furniture. But in different positions, it reveals a deeper meaning—showcasing the delicate beauty of flowers and the relentless hunt of the Venus flytrap.
Each piece is painted in bold,… vibrant colors, making the flowers, insects, and movements come to life. The intense hues amplify the energy of nature: the deep blue of the asters, the radiant yellow of the sunflower, and the striking purple of the asters create a dazzling explosion of contrast and color.
By combining recycled materials, vivid colors, and an interactive design, this artwork invites the viewer to explore the fragile balance of nature—sometimes harmonious, sometimes ruthless, but always vibrant and full of energy.

« In my art, I transform discarded materials into bold, playful pieces that invite humor, chaos, and interaction. »
Frank Willems creates art driven by curiosity, wonder, and a healthy sense of restlessness. Fascinated by human and animal behaviour, the human psyche, social discomforts, and the absurdity of everyday life, his work combines urban art, pop art, and neo-expressionism. Humour, colour, chaos, and deeper reflection coexist in his expressive visual language.
Many works are created on reclaimed wood, giving discarded materials a second life. His imagery features animals, cartoon-like figures, text, and skeletons, symbolising what connects us all.
Interaction is an important part of his practice. Through blacklight, following eyes, kinetic movement, mirrors, and movable elements, his works invite viewers to look closer and actively engage.
His work has been exhibited in the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States, auctioned by Christie's, and presented at KunstRAI Amsterdam. His works are held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
