About this artwork
This painting represents Don Quixote and his pursuit of fantasy, replacing the Windmills with a figure of a lady named Lenore. Quixote’s profile can be found in the center left, which faces away from her, designating his failure. Quixote with lance, in abstract, can also be seen at the base of the figure. Chasing ladies perhaps is as challenging as chasing windmills
Franz Fox
United States
« My work is inspired by imagination, expression and feeling, and is not a product of recreated reality. »
Franz Fox is a passionate Cuban painter based in the US who has exhibited his work nationally. He harnesses inspiration from the colors that were at his fingertips during his youth on the island, as well as experiences from his many travels after moving from Cuba to the States. Fox composes vibrant paintings that center on a figurative image which he then surrounds with abstract elements. He considers his style as a sort of psychic automatism, wherein priority is given to the process, emphasizing impulse over premeditated composition.
