About this artwork
A mother pig surrounded by her piglets – seemingly peaceful, almost idyllic. But the "pig family" is more than a picture of familial harmony: It's a cleverly composed play on the body, closeness, care, and dependence.
The animals are voluminous, clearly contoured, almost monumental. The mother stands protectively, yet also overpoweringly, over her young. The piglets huddle closely together – a gathering, a herd, a community? Or a system?
The colors… are pared down: fleshy pink, rich green, a black background that feels like a stage or emptiness. Nothing distracts from the actual theme: the animal as a mirror of familial, social, and existential dynamics.
“Sausippe” is the start of a new series that, with both irony and seriousness, questions the animal structure of bonding – between protection and structure, care and form.
