About this artwork
In Mirage two worlds melt together... A windowscene from a bedroom overlooking the ocean with a missile approaching send by a drone. A delicate moment of bliss before the impact.

« Whilst looking at the world I see evocative films in my mind. My visions appear on canvas as film stills, suggestive in silence waiting to be broken. »
G-Brecht (b. 1965) is a Dutch painter who lives and works in Amsterdam. His paintings are explorations of today’s landscapes, of a highly modern western world. Artificial systems - computers, airplanes, surveillance systems - interfere with a denatured landscape, creating a disquieting atmosphere that is anything but picturesque.
