About this artwork
Street Artist is a painting made with spray paint, acrylic and like all paintings it has in its center an aluminium figurine covered with resin with a strip of LED light behind it providing indirect light.
This canvas depicts the character Ryu from street fighter painting with an aerosol can: he is writing "king of the street" in Japanese.
It is a tribute to the famous video game that occupied part of my childhood, as much as to the history of… graffiti: the beginnings of this art were steeped in a world of competition between gangs to mark territory in the streets of neighborhoods in American cities.
This competition led to the development of graffiti art by offering speed, an ever more varied and embellished style.
