Taz is a character who takes his name from the island of Tasmania, where there is an animal called the Tasmanian devil.
I've always found this character endearing, probably because he's a bit like me. As proof, my mother called me that when I was a child. His hunger makes him lose his composure… and his reason, and he easily finds himself trapped.
Taz is also the nickname given to the psychotropic drug ecstasy, which was very popular in the 90s and which I myself tried. It provides an inner warmth and an uncontrollable feeling of wanting to dance and kiss, and then it makes you plummet.
The idea of combining these two diminutives comes, of course, from a common noun, but also from the diabolical aspect that unites them.
