About this artwork
The work is something I wanted to explore for a while. I have been looking at monochrome photos, particularly of nature, and I wanted to try and create my own work without using an extensive palette. I was also able to use more palette knife in this piece. The outcome, in this case, is something very dramatic. This particular piece is smaller in size than some others and, I think, a little friendlier.

Geoff Winckle is an Australian artist whose fundamental themes reflect on the "sublime in nature" through the landscape. His techniques and artistic expression oscillate between impressionism, expressionism, and realism, depending on the subject and the state of his subconscious. Winckle has recently gravitated from oils to acrylics and is currently exploring new methods of painting that draws from both practices.
