About this artwork
The work came about from exposure to a series of articles promoting the area around where I live. There is a lot of outdoor activity that connects with the countryside and the spectacular hills above our valley. I wanted to express my admiration for the land but in a more loosely, less confined manner than normal.

Geoff Winckle is an Australian artist whose fundamental themes reflect on the "sublime in nature" through the landscape. His techniques and artistic expression oscillate between impressionism, expressionism, and realism, depending on the subject and the state of his subconscious. Winckle has recently gravitated from oils to acrylics and is currently exploring new methods of painting that draws from both practices.
