The painted frame, which encloses the pictures and which also becomes part of the painting, is the namesake of the "Frame" series. Similar to looking through a window, the pictorial space opens up and directs our gaze to a painting that uses color very subtly. German artist Gerdlind was born in Mannheim in 1942. He studied at the Free Academy in Mannheim with Paul Berger-Bergner (1957-1962) and the Summer Academy in Salzburg with Oskar Kokoschka (1960). . He lives and works in Mannheim, Germany.
