This figurative contemporary painting depicts a young boy standing behind his lectern, echoing the style of old school portraits meant to create a “proud memory” for the future. Yet the paper donkey ears placed on his head—once a classroom punishment—raise unsettling questions. What did he say to deserve this? And how often are children’s ambitions or quiet dreams silenced before they can grow?
A real… brass nameplate affixed to the bottom of the painting reads “Sixty‑eighter”. Was this ever the child’s imagined future, or an identity imposed upon him?

The series reflects on childhood, memory, and the futures we imagine for ourselves. In youth, everything seems possible. Looking back, we ask: how much of that freedom remained, and how many dreams did we truly pursue? How often were our voices softened or silenced by the quiet passing of time?
