About this artwork
Vienna on the Danube - with Reichsbrücke - for Gerlinde Kosina, Vienna is a piece of home -
The Danube is the second largest and second longest river in Europe - and it flows through 10 countries,
more than any other river on this earth - it is all landscape - painters see it
Everything maybe different - when painting, the city is also built in, experiences are brought in,
especially if you live here. such a river shapes the landscape - enhances… a city - it is the blue Danube that also characterizes this city, above all due to the great freedom that results from the flow of water, the current that also conveys a longing for the distance - bis towards the black sea ...
on the picture you can see on the left the new danube plate (uno city) and the imperial bridge that connects the city center here - this view can be seen from the danube tower.
« My pictures reflect impressions - scenes that are stored like photographs in my head, that I then try to realize in my paintings. »
Gerlinde Kosina is a committed Austrian painter whose works have featured in exhibitions and publications in Germany, Italy, Austria and the US. With oil painting as her preferred technique, she starts with chaotic stains and strokes that she then polishes with brushes, spatulas and her hands to arrive at a harmonious place. Her primary aim and theme is peace, brought to the forefront by her colours and compositions.
