About this artwork
the picture. where from - where to where did gerlinde kosina paint “galaxy” on the subject of “universe”…
the picture was partially painted with phosphorescent acrylic paint-
so that it lights up for a while at night.. or when it's dark.
"when i look at the night sky i'm self-conscious, imprisoned,
excited, amazed and stunned...
the tremendous energy and beauty of the universe is breathtaking,
the fact that we are just a dust core in this cosmos… sounds scary...
and always the question - where from - where to - and where is the limit...
the picture is from an art project of the ACA - art corporation austria - flags on tour - which took place in austria and croatia. the pictures - as so-called flags - were hung up in the cities. the canvas is therefore so strong and treated that it will not suffer any damage outdoors. the flag tour took place over a whole year. that was in 2018/2019
the total length of the image is 170 because it is curled at the top.
« My pictures reflect impressions - scenes that are stored like photographs in my head, that I then try to realize in my paintings. »
Gerlinde Kosina is a committed Austrian painter whose works have featured in exhibitions and publications in Germany, Italy, Austria and the US. With oil painting as her preferred technique, she starts with chaotic stains and strokes that she then polishes with brushes, spatulas and her hands to arrive at a harmonious place. Her primary aim and theme is peace, brought to the forefront by her colours and compositions.
