About this artwork
K2 is the second highest mountain on the planet, but second to none for the great fascination that even just naming it exerts, a legendary mountain whose vertigos have been the scene of tragedies and epic feats, above all the Italian expedition led by Ardito Desio who, not without casualties, managed to reach the summit with two men, it was July 31, 1954 and until then no one had ever succeeded in the feat. The rest, including controversies, is history.…
From a pictorial point of view it is a set of interesting shapes with its chiaroscuro and its volumes, to create it I used acrylic, oil, and plaster to give strength to the painting and pay homage to this corner of the world.

« Painting means to undertake a journey in search of a balance between form and color, with the aim of creating a visual harmony. »
Gianfranco Combi is an Italian artist whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and in Switzerland. He describes the key theme in his art as being the search for an image that, despite being realistic, leaves the role of absolute protagonist to the painting itself. Combi endeavors to convey the beauty of nature to viewers. He creates almost exclusively using oils on linen canvases.
