About this artwork
On the night of December 4, 1942 Naples was subjected, for the first time, to a carpet bombing, that is, directed not only against military but also civilian targets. It was the first of a long series that made it one of the most tormented cities in Italy.
Evocative work, partially material all painted in shades of white, black and gray with the exception of a metaphorically red stripe, the few lights still on in the buildings and portions of the… sky illuminated by the anti-aircraft headlights.
The painting is proposed already framed by the artist (dimensions 44x54x4 cm) and is accompanied by a Singulart certificate of authenticity and the artist's archival document.
Work exhibited on the occasion of “Cromoesplosioni” Virtual Solo Show by Elisabetta La Rosa - Published in the "Cromoesplosioni" catalog which will be sent as a gift to the purchaser of the painting.

Gianluca De Leo is an Italian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Naples and the love and hate relationship that many of its inhabitants have with the city is one of the recurring themes in his art. De Leo's compositions combine geometrization and the abstract, depicting precise "non-places", which he describes as being very different from how it is represented and portrayed by media hype. His minimalist compositions are created using acrylics on canvas.
