the painting was a walk I took in Friston Forest in East Sussex near the Seaford coast one October. The sense of awe is one many people will share with me if they walk in woodland. This is due partly to the majesty of the trees and leaves in autumn but also because, when in a forest, you could be anywhere and at any time period. It is sometimes a bit disturbing but mostly it is exciting and therapeutic and I have tried to capture this sense of awe in this painting.
