About this artwork

Ocean Magicians is a very large blue and turquoise seascape painting of a Caribbean Sea, beach and sky but with an unusual twist to it. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. The sky is a deep cobalt blue and the sea is turquoise with white lacy waves rippling gently onto the shore. Eight white tern birds are dancing in the centre of the painting as if casting a spell. They were painted slightly transparently in order to enhance the ethereal quality these birds… have for me. The line of the horizon shows a sand bank and deep dark water behind it and there is a lilac band of colour where the sky reaches the sea. All these factors were present on the day I saw all this on a recent trip to Aruba. My difficulty was that I did not want to paint just another Caribbean seascape. I wanted to show some of my awe for the location and sea and the birds in a way that is not hackneyed. I think I achieved this. It is dedicated to all the lovely people of Aruba. It really is one of the friendliest places ever. Paint
