The hero Aeneas went down to hell to see his father Anchise who died. He is accompanied by the Cume sibyl, which holds the golden branch, allowing you to go back alive from hell. In this painting, Aeneas has taken the face of Dali. The demons torment a cohort of the damned, among whom we recognize some contemporary political figures. The curious creature with the ridiculous face on the left is none other than Picasso (according to a symbolic portrait…
that Dali had made of him in 1947); the artist is probably punished for having disfigured some women with his brush!

Gilles Chambon is a French artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in China and Japan. He believes that painting is "the shortest path between spirit and matter" and that it is the direct trace of thought and gesture. For Chambon, the painted image retains its magical power. His artistic process is concerned with the exploration of the links between ancient and modern works, creating a new poetry, which he calls synchronistic painting.
