About this artwork
The boat featured here - "Genesis" - is a wooden sloop built on the beach in the Caribbean island of Carriacou. Designed to go fast & reach the fishing banks quickly - or escape from the coast guard if smuggling was involved - these sloops formed an exciting class of their own at the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.

Gilly Gobinet is an award-winning artist based in Antigua & Barbuda whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in St. Lucia, Anguilla, Venezuela, and France. Principally inspired by nature, she cites her training as a biologist as having stimulated her interest in the structure of flora and fauna. Gobinet's artistic expression is translated through varying styles with watercolors and acrylics on paper, canvas, or wood.
