About this artwork
A different approach to one of the artist's favourite subjects: trees, particularly Palm Trees or Coconut Palms. She is inspired by nature as usual but decided to use these gorgeous colours in a long format, using drips under gravity to form the composition in a crazy semi-abstract approach...the joy of contemporary art is that use of certain colours, shapes & forms are not questioned but welcomed. "Crazy" is possibly not the right word but then…
why not? After all, "crazy paving" is an acceptable term in that we know what it is but the inherent design is abstract. Similarly with these palm trees which the artists sees though her studio window every day. And in any case she had great fun creating this delightful piece - colourful but not overwhelming through the beauty of transparent watercolours

Gilly Gobinet is an award-winning artist based in Antigua & Barbuda whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in St. Lucia, Anguilla, Venezuela, and France. Principally inspired by nature, she cites her training as a biologist as having stimulated her interest in the structure of flora and fauna. Gobinet's artistic expression is translated through varying styles with watercolors and acrylics on paper, canvas, or wood.
