About this artwork
This painting is a celebration of the wealth of colour & shapes of Bromeliads, tropical plants that abound mainly in the tropics. It is entitled "Hummdinger" - a tribute both to the success of these luscious abundant flora & to the tiny Hummingbird flitting between the leaves. Using just lines, shapes & flat colour, it portrays the swirling form of these plants, which grow in the fascinating Fibonacci sequence (as does another memeber of this family,…
the Pineapple).

Gilly Gobinet is an award-winning artist based in Antigua & Barbuda whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in St. Lucia, Anguilla, Venezuela, and France. Principally inspired by nature, she cites her training as a biologist as having stimulated her interest in the structure of flora and fauna. Gobinet's artistic expression is translated through varying styles with watercolors and acrylics on paper, canvas, or wood.
