"Pep(erone) Art" was born with the aim of explaining the mechanism of reading "NUS–NOÛS" photographs and refers to "Pop Art", an artistic movement born in England in the 1950s, whose most popular exponent was Andy Warhol, with his multiple images of Marilyn Monroe.
These multiple images are congenial for the interpretation of NUS–NOÛS photographs. The colored images on the right seem to depict human bodies or parts of them, in reality it is a pepper… but it is the observer who wants to see them. When we observe anything, even a situation, we observe it in an emotional way and for this reason we are often fooled.
The image on the left, in black and white, represents the same subject rotated, in this position it does not have the same meaning as the colored images, this only lasts a minimum time, the time for the areas of the mind to realize the deception.
Giuseppe Persia shapes light in analogue photographic works, immortalising reality with an almost pictorial approach. Explore the essence of the subject, redesigning the form through careful technique and artisanal development, in black and white that blurs the boundaries of the unreal. His images evoke subtle emotions and deep resonances, inviting a contemplative journey beyond the visible.
