About this artwork
The work is composed of a 20x20 cm canvas inserted on a thin plexiglass sheet and a slightly larger black wooden frame. The work can be hung or placed on a table or any base. I framed it in this way to give the impression that the canvas seems suspended in the center of the frame.
This work is dedicated to my passion for Japan, especially the costumes of the Edo period (1603-1868). I was deeply impressed by the elegance of the costumes of the time… and I tried to portray them with delicacy, using a rarefied base to highlight the figures. I wanted to maintain the delicacy and elegance that in Japan are called "shibumi", or simplicity and sobriety, or subtle elegance.
« My research is to give shape and color to images, that filtered by emotions, live a metaphysical dimension that search for representation »
