About this artwork
In my artwork, oil and varnish, realism and semi-abstraction merge to create an intense expressiveness. The face is hidden and revealed at the same time, reflecting depth and emotion. The environment with its selective accents emphasizes the central, the human. This picture carries an atmosphere of melancholy and richness of thought that encourages those viewing it to pause and reflect. Every look at it will be a new experience.

Bas was born in today's Ukraine, and has lived in Germany since 1992. After studying art in Münster and at the acclaimed Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, he exhibits regularly in Germany. Bas deconstructs his first draft by, for example, painting over the painting with another painting and allowing chance to play a certain role.
