About this artwork
In my creation, oil and varnish merge into a surrealistic vision that is half abstract, half figurative. This metaphysical representation combines the timeless calm of the Buddha with the auspicious energy of an apple - a symbol of knowledge and renewal. The composition is intended to awaken emotions of peace and deeper awareness in the viewer while at the same time bringing an aura of mystery into any room.

Bas was born in today's Ukraine, and has lived in Germany since 1992. After studying art in Münster and at the acclaimed Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, he exhibits regularly in Germany. Bas deconstructs his first draft by, for example, painting over the painting with another painting and allowing chance to play a certain role.
