About this artwork
In my artwork, I explore the depths of human superstition using oil paint and varnish. The distortion of the face captures the confusion and complexity of feelings hidden within our belief systems. By playing with light and shadow I tried to create a dynamic and emotional energy. This painting will bring an intense atmosphere to any room, provoking thought and perhaps even challenging the viewer's inner landscape.

Bas was born in today's Ukraine, and has lived in Germany since 1992. After studying art in Münster and at the acclaimed Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, he exhibits regularly in Germany. Bas deconstructs his first draft by, for example, painting over the painting with another painting and allowing chance to play a certain role.
