About this artwork
A large size seascape oil painting depicting a single curling wave from a facing perspective looking directly towards the ocean with the wave breaking. The foreground shows the sea foam over sand being churned up into the water. The mid ground has the large rolling wave and sea-foam. The background shows the horizon line and sky with the splashes highlighted against the muted tones of the background. This composition form has depth and volume with…
a natural sense of space.
The curling wave is predominantly green with shades of grey, cream and white sea foam. The foreground shows the neutral sand tones in between the foam. The distant ocean and sky are muted tones of blue grey. The lighting is from the natural sun. The full range of tones and values are used, dark, light and middle.
Memories of observing the ocean in Devon, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire.

« Creating art gives me joy, I get lost in my paintings. Time passes without knowing, but there’s a painting to show at the end of time. »
Inspired by her former career as a fashion designer, Glenys Flint first began painting fashion-inspired portraits. Currently, the Portugal based artist portrays photorealistic florals, which are abundant on the sub-tropical island of Madeira, where she resides. Shifting her technique, Flint's recent landscapes and seascapes are expressed in an impressionistic manner. Her vibrant pieces are created using oils on canvas.
