About this artwork
The central motif of this series of works is women in the various facets of being a woman and being human.
It is about the woman in search of a real female identity, the attempt to free herself from both the old and the new role models. The focus is on the question of an independent female identity that does not have to be measured by male standards.
In all of the works in this series, the women stand out for their intensely red cheeks, signs… of prosperous life and health, and the apples that are inevitably associated with Eve. Red apples, which symbolize vitality, strength, but also susceptibility.
The portraits of women in this series are strong women who courageously seek their way in this area of tension.

Keller is fascinated by the Catalan artist Antoni Tàpies due to the thoughts, philosophy, identity and roots that are reflected in his paintings. The style of Keller is completely opposite to that of Tàpies; in her representations of her homeland, identity, women and migration, she combines figurative and abstract elements in intense, expressionistic colors.
