About this artwork
This painting isnmy escape into alpine serenity. Snow-capped peaks rise high, a waterfall crashes into a turquoise lake where a single small boat drifts. Above it all floats a hot air balloon, while in the foreground a wooden promenade and vintage signpost guide the eye through dense evergreens.
I painted wet-on-wet: colors blended while still wet – sky melting into water, green into earth. For the mountains, snow, and waterfall, I used impasto technique… – thick, textured strokes with a palette knife, making the surface almost leap off the canvas.
Created during my quiet retreat in the Swiss Alps. For me, it’s balance: wilderness meeting a moment of peace. I hope it brings that same feeling to you.

Goran Soldo is a self-taught painter of Croatian origin, based in Switzerland, primarily working in acrylics on canvas. He masterfully employs expressive realism and impressionistic techniques, such as impasto, wet-on-wet, and dry brush, to weave luminous textures and atmospheric depth into his landscapes. Through his dynamic portrayal of mountains, lakes, and fleeting urban traces, he evokes a poetic meditation on transience, inviting viewers to feel the living pulse and serene beauty within the ever-shifting dialogue of nature and humanity.
