Greg Navratil's paintings begin by visiting colorful natural areas, where he hunts for scenes to photograph. The American painter's colorful compositions achieve a balance between abstraction and realism. Navratil approaches his paintings by creating grid patterns on the canvas which are inspired by his nature photography. With acrylics, he works on accurately placed tiny shapes of color reminiscent of pointillism. Before the pieces are finished, every 'void on the canvas is filled with tiny slashing strokes of vibrant color'.
