About this artwork
My oil on linen painting "Big Sur - Pfeiffer Oaks" is part of my ongoing series of paintings that embrace the environment and the world of nature. Entitled “Our Fragile Earth”, these paintings start with the fragile beauty of the Monterey Coastline and move out to the flora and fauna across our globe.
I often take hikes at state parks along the stunning coastal road - Highway 1 in Central California. Along the wooded paths light filters through… the silvery green leaves and seems to provides hints of a bigger, mysterious meaning to life. These quiet, poetic moments speak of something larger than ourselves and inspire me to create color harmonies in oil paint that remember their fleeting presence.
