About this artwork
This is the 25th and final original work in the "Mask" series.
In a world where we often wear masks—figuratively and literally—Gregory’s work challenges us to look inward. These paintings serve as mirrors, reflecting the vulnerabilities, strengths, and connections we all share. They’re not just art; they’re conversations about what it means to be human.
« I aim to make a completely original and iconic work the sticks to the viewer by demanding their attention and refusing to let go, leaving an indelible mark on their memory. »
Gregory Malphurs focuses on portraiture that goes beyond physical likeness, exploring the layers and complexities that make us who we are. His work invites viewers to see beneath the surface and discover the stories hidden within.
His latest solo show was at Gallery 612 in Los Angeles, and his paintings were recently featured in the Oceanside Museum of Art’s summer exhibition, More Disruption: Representational Art in Flux.
Gregory's work is collected all over the world including the United States, Europe, South America and Australia.
He works out of his High Desert studio in Joshua Tree California where he lives with his partner and their beloved canine companions.
