About this artwork
I recently attended a Latin pop concert where I observed a gathering, or assemblage, of people from many different walks of life. The audience consisted of individuals of different ages and ethnicities as well as from various income levels.
Many of the concertgoers struck me as being fairly well-off, while others appeared to be stereotypical young, starving artists. I witnessed firsthand the glue like effect the performer exuded in bringing together… a roomful of a thousand people who otherwise, it seemed, shared little in common.
When I am part of a harmonious, yet diverse gathering, I never fail to stand pleasantly amazed. As I look about it confirms my conviction that people united, stand stronger. It also underscores our similarities while embracing the differences we tend to overemphasize all too often. I feel it's important to recognize the common ground we share-even in the midst of a diverse assemblage-because it brings us closer together as people.
