About this artwork
In this visceral piece, I've melded oil, pastel, and charcoal to craft a narrative on identity and perception. The obscured face, a statement in fine art and pop art, bathed in expressionistic strokes, suggests a vibrant dissonance—an exploration of the seen and unseen. This painting pulses with the vitality of a hidden story, beckoning you to contemplate the layers beneath its surface, adding a dynamic energy to your space.

« Painting and painting over, closing in, and the alternation of repetition and reversal. »
GyoBeom An is an artist based in South Korea whose paintings have been featured in several solo exhibitions nationally. He describes his artistic process as being based on the collection of images of interest, which he then transforms into another piece by adding "an inner feeling to them". His vibrant compositions are most often created with oils and charcoal on canvas.
