About this artwork
This painting is part of the "Abstract Figures" series, created during the summer of 2024. The aim here is not to depict a specific person, but rather to evoke their state of mind through the texture of the paint, the gesture of the brush or palette knife. A feeling of wandering, of drifting, of difficulty finding one's place.
The silhouette is sketched, only the shape of the head is clearly defined. As with all the abstract figures in this series,… it is the clothing that drives the painting's concept, giving it its meaning. The dress blends with the water, the body dissolves into the substance.
Figurative abstraction is that moment in painting where abstraction and figuration can meet without contradicting each other.
The painting is sold with a hanging system on the back. The edges of the canvas are painted, so it does not require framing.

Hélène Zenatti, a self-taught painter trained in cinema and cultural mediation, primarily uses acrylic on canvas or paper, sometimes enhanced with materials such as sand or glued tissue paper. Her technique plays on textures, the density of the paint, or its transparency in varied palettes. She explores, through abstraction, the poetry of landscapes, whether real or interior. Some works, through their fragmented arrangement in several images, evoke cinema or graphic novels.
