About this artwork
Bold spontaneous brushstrokes on a background of greens and pinks. This was painted during the spring that never seemed to present itself. It somehow reminded me of how crocuses struggle to emerge from the snow.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
