About this artwork
A many layered composition of black abstract marks interspersed with geometric shapes of brown, grey and turquoise. While not exactly reminiscent of misty water, this painting was created as a cd of Kinks rarities was in heavy rotation on my studio stereo. One of the songs of which was I Like Misty Water. Great song. I hope this painting lives up to it’s namesake

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
