About this artwork
A dense, complex composition of blacks, grays, whites with accents of salmon pink. Painted at a time when I felt the need to back away from color and paint with a more limited palette. Many interesting textures.

Hal Mayforth is a prize-winning American artist who has exhibited his paintings in the United States. In addition to his illustrations, he also creates large-scale abstract compositions. Mayforth is inspired by numerous sources, including vintage comics and cartoons, as well as American petroglyphs, and outsider art. He begins each work by painting in a gestural manner, then painstakingly edits, both adding and removing elements, sometimes taking months to complete a single piece.
